“The only thing constant is change”.
Change is inevitable. Often change strikes at our core. It’s natural to protect ourselves from the harm – real, potential, or presumed – that threatens us. This self-defensive mode results in a barrier to protect ourselves.
In protecting ourselves, we risk isolating from what’s happening beyond what we see.
Likewise, merely reacting to changes without discernment means we would forget our past.
As George Santayana puts it, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. Skepticism is the chastity of the intellect. To covet truth is a very distinguished passion.”
