Every organisation has it’s own strategy to help it accomplish a predetermined set of goals and outcomes. In Cynthia Montgomery’s book The Strategist, the strategy is your organisation’s campaign in the marketplace:
- The domain you are competing in;
- How you’re competing in it; and
- What you want to accomplish.
When it comes to communications strategy, it’s a narrower area: how is your organisation communicating in the domain you’re operating or competing in? What are you trying to accomplish?
Guided by these and other questions, you should be able to come up with a framework on how you’re going to do what you’re going to do – and know when you’re there.
Check out this video I published in January 2020. Here I briefly shared what a communication strategy is.
Remember to bring back what you learnt to your organisation: what is your strategy?
